A Windy Valentine's Day for many as low pressure brings gales and rain to the UK


Starting bright and frosty in the east, but rain in the west will spread to all areas, with hill snow across Scotland and northern England. Windy with gales, severe in the northwest. Generally cold, but milder in the southwest.

Tonight:
Rain and strong winds will clear away leaving a cold and breezy night. Scattered showers will push in, wintry in the northwest with a risk of ice. Gales in northwest.
Thursday:
Sunshine and showers on Thursday, most frequent in the north where often wintry. Perhaps staying dry in the east. Windy for many so feeling cold with a significant wind chill.



The Met Office forecaster said: "It will also be very windy, with the southerly wind expected to gust 50-60mph widely and as high as 65-70mph along some exposed coasts and over high ground."
